Since I’ve not done a skincare routine in a while, and I showed a few of these products in my last beauty haul , I thought I’d do some mini reviews on them. This is slightly L’Oréal heavy, it’s not a sponsored post (I wish!) I’m just really loving their skincare at the moment.
Taking my make up off:
To take my make up off I’ve been using the L’Oréal Micellar Water and the Simple Kind To Skin Eye Make Up remover. The Simple eye make up remover doesn’t take all my mascara off, but its gentle on the eyes which I like.
I really loved the L’Oréal Pure Clay detox face mask, so when I saw they had brought it out in a daily face wash I had to try it. So far I haven’t been disappointed, it’s really gentle on the skin, and leaves it feeling really fresh. I use the KIKO scrub a few times a week, because my skin is dry and sensitive I don’t like to over exfoliate it. The beads in this are tiny, which means it isn’t harsh on the skin at all, and leaves your skin feeling really clean, without irritating it.
If I’m honest I much prefer the L’Oréal detox mask to this one. This ones ok, but I can’t keep it on too long as it starts to itch. It’s ok for now but I’ll be going back to the detox mask as soon as this one has run out. The Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish is a lovely product to use on a “pamper” night, and leaves your skin feeling really soft. The main reason I don’t use this every day is because I’m slightly lazy, and I prefer my cleanser and toner to be the same brand.
Cleanse and tone:
I think this might be my favourite cleanser and toner combination ever. My skin was really dry and breaking out before I started using these, so when I spotted them in sainsburys and saw they were formulated especially for dry and sensitive skin I thought I’d give them a try. They’re really gentle on the skin (are you sensing a theme here) and smell divine. I’ve also seen a lot of improvement since I introduced these into my skincare. I think the product size is really generous as well for the price I paid.
Surprise! another L’Oréal product. They are killing it with the skincare at the moment. I picked these up after I bought the cleanser and toner to see if they would work well with them and so far so good. The day moisturiser is more lightweight then the night one and absorbs really well. I like the fact the night time one is a little thicker, so it can really sink into the skin overnight. Since I’ve been using these I have far less dryness on my skin and my face feels a lot less “tight” after showering too.
I’m not too sure why but my blog seems to have a major issue with uploading the images of the eye cream I use, but currently I’m using the Simple eye cream for daywear. It’s not my favourite eye cream I’ve ever used, but it’s gentle on the eyes and leaves them feeling hydrated.
And that’s my current skincare routine! Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried any of these products and what your must have skincare items are!
This isn’t really a haul as such as I’ve had some of these items for a few weeks and have already used a few. But since I’ve built up a little collection, I thought it would be fun to show you guys what I’ve bought recently.
Lets get the most boring thing out of the way first! I bought these randomly as my skins been pretty rubbish recently, and I thought the tea tree might be good for it. I’ve hardly used them though as I always use make up remover and cleanser. Not too much to say about these, face wipes are face wipes!
I spotted these in Sainsbury’s recently and thought I’d pick them up, again as my skins not too great at the moment and I wanted to try some different skincare. These are new releases from L’Oréal. I’ve been using the cleanser and toner for a few weeks now and I love them. They smell amazing, and are really gentle on the skin. I haven’t used the face wash yet as I’m finishing another one, but I’m sure I’ll like it as much as the other two. These are a 3rd off at Boots at the moment!
The pure clay washes are another new realise from L’Oréal, and I picked the black one up because I loved the black pure clay face mask. I’ve not used this one yet as I’m using up another face wash. I decided to try the purity mask this time instead of the black one, and I wish I’d picked the black one up. This one isn’t too bad, but it does irritate my skin a little if I leave it on too long. These are also on offer in Boots at the moment with a third off.
I’m not 100% sure on the price of this as I can’t find it on the Boots website, I think it might have been on clearance. I bought this with the idea that I could use it under my eyes. I’ve not really being using it long enough to say if its made a difference. The serum itself feels nice on the skin, really hydrating and absorbs well, but it has an odd smell. It doesn’t smell like grape fruit like I expected and it’s a strange colour, like a yellowy fake tan colour. Thankfully this absorbs and I don’t have a patchy fake tan face!
I spotted these brushes on Amazon when I bought my new dressing table and I thought they’d look really pretty on it. They had good reviews so I thought I’d give them a go. The brushes are actually a lot nicer than I expected. They are really soft and fluffy, not as dense as some drugstore brushes, but they’d be great if you were just starting out with make up, and for the price the quality is brilliant. My only complaint with these is the gold bottoms sometimes fall off. I haven’t used these yet as I’m trying to keep them nice for my “What’s on my dressing table” post. If you want to purchase them, you can find them here.
I re-purchased this powder from Wilkinson’s, because I’m clumsy and dropped my other one and it smashed. This is a brilliant powder for setting under the eyes, £3 is an absolute bargain!
I love my Revlon Colourstay foundation, so I thought I’d try these two and so far I’m loving them both. The primer is creamy and absorbs really well, and the concealer is really brightening. These are buy one get one half price in Superdrug at the moment.
As you can see I have a little obsession with L’Oréal at the moment! I really wanted to try the foundation as I’d seen a lot of good reviews online, and so far I’m really impressed, it’s totally full coverage and lasts well. I purchased the eye paints out of curiosity (and it was 3 for 2), I haven’t worn them yet, but they look like they’ll be pretty for nights out (not that I go on many!). The brow gel is a repurchase because I love the first one, it’s such a quick and easy way to do your brows. The brown liner I bought for a more toned down day look, and the grey I just wanted to try as an alternative to black all the time.
I’m a big fan of the colour tattoos, and I think these are new additions. I bought them on a buy one get one half price at Superdrug, and I think these will make great bases for everyday wear.
How beautiful are these colours? Perfect for spring/ summer every day looks. I love Sleek eyeshadows and this palette is so highly pigmented too. Sleek is on offer at the minute at buy one get one half price in Boots.
I’ve never tried any of the Sleek Lip VIP’s before, but this colour was so pretty I had to buy it. Its a lovely understated red-nude-pink colour. I’m quite looking forward to wearing this one.
I went off MUA for a bit, but I’ve recently watched a video on YouTube reviewing these products so I thought I’d give them a go, and they were discounted in Superdrug which was a bonus! The primer is meant to be good for filling in pores which I need in my life, and I’ve never tried a cushion product before, so I’m interested to see how the highlight turns out.
My skins looking pretty red at the minute so I decided to try this green colour corrector to cancel it out. I have a Barry M one which is far too green and even when I blended it out, it makes me look ill. This one seems a much better match for my skin tone thought so fingers crossed!
The Six Shade Palettes are a new product from MUA, and for £3.50 I thought I’d give it a try. The shadows aren’t as pigmented as the sleek ones, and they are a little chalky, but they seem buildable and for the price its not a bad deal.
And the final buy! This really pretty nude lipstick from Make Up Revolution. I thought this would be a pretty shade for wearing everyday, and I’ve actually not tried Make Up Revolution lipsticks recently.
I feel like this blog post has taken ages! It’s hard work blogging about beauty! Let me know if you want any more indepth reviews on any of the products, and if you’ve bought anything new recently.
I’m going to Go Ape tomorrow with Dan, wish me luck! Hope you all have a nice weekend.
Today I’m doing a collab with my blogger bae Abbie, (find her blog here), and we thought we’d do Jacqueline Hill’s “Ride Or Die” tag. Basically if we were stuck on a desert island what must have beauty products would we take with us?
Primer : Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Primer : This is my favourite primer ever, and this is my second bottle of it! I personally think this is a pretty good dupe for the Benefit “That Gal” primer and a fraction of the cost.
Foundation : Revlon Colour Stay Foundation In 150 : This is a foundation I always go back to, and I love the fact its made especially for people with dry skin. It gives a nice, even finish and doesn’t cling to any dry patches like other foundations do.
Concealer : Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer : I love everything about this concealer. It’s brilliant coverage, the formula goes on really well and the applicator is brilliant. A bit pricey but worth the money
Under Eye Setting Powder: I’ve only ever used a LilyLoLo under eye setting powder, and I wasn’t thrilled with it, and I just set my concealer with my regular powder, so no answer for this!
Powder :L’Oréal True Match Powder: To be honest I don’t really use more then one powder at a time so I’d have to go for this one, because I can’t do without a powder in my make up routine. I do really like this, but in my opinion, powder is just powder.
Blush: Benefit Rockateur Blush: This blush is my all time favourite which is why it looks so battered. It was a birthday present from Dan and I have to say the boy did good. It’s a lovely rose colour without being too overpowering ,has a little bit of highlight and smells divine.
Bronzer: Bourjois Contour Illusion Bronzer & Highlight : I haven’t really ventured into the world of bronzers too much as I’ve only just recently started contouring and all that shit. But I’ve been loving this one recently. It might be a weird thing to say but I love that it’s not too pigmented so I can build it up and not have massive brown lines on my cheeks
Highlight : The Balm Mary Lou Manizer: I know this is a cult favourite, but I love this. The pigment and colour is so beautiful and really suits my skin tone. I probably won’t buy another highlighter until this runs out.
Mascara : I don’t particularly love any mascara, I just kind of use the ones I have open then after three months use a new one. But if I had to pick a favourite one that I’ve used it would be the L’oreal Miss Manga mascara, (which I don’t have a picture of!)
Lipstick: MAC Viva Glam 3 & Rimmel Kate In 45: You guys have no idea how tough this one was. In the end I couldn’t choose one so I’ve picked these two. For a night out, if I’m stuck on what to wear, MAC Viva Glam 3 is my go to. It’s a matte finish, and the most beautiful deep red colour. For everyday wear, I always fall back on the Rimmel Kate in 45, which is a really pretty pink based nude, which goes with literally every single eye look.
Liquid Lip : Sleek Matte Me In Shabby Chic : I haven’t tried a lot of liquid lipsticks, but I love the sleek formula (the darker colours aren’t as good as the lighter ones though) and this colour is beautiful. I don’t own anything else like it, its kind of a pinky nude but with purple undertones (does that even make sense?!) I LOVE IT.
Gloss: No answer for this, I don’t use lipgloss
Lashes : I very rarely wear false lashes, because I can’t be arsed and I always end up with one hanging off at the end of the night, so again no answer for this one.
Eyeshadow Palette : Stila Eye’s Are The Window Palette In Soul : This one was super difficult as well because I love eyeshadow. Eventually I narrowed it down to this Stila one and my NYX Custom Pro Palette (see my review here ). The Stila one won because the quality is a lot better. Just look at the colours in here! So pretty and a perfect selection for day and night looks!
Eyeliner: Bourjois Ultra Black Smoky Pencil Eyeliner : I don’t use liquid eyeliner a lot, so I don’t have a liquid favourite, but I love this pencil eyeliner. It’s perfect for creating smoky looks and I like to put it in the water line and then on the outer corner and crease to smudge out.
Setting spray : I don’t use it really so no answer!
Perfume : Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy: Don’t laugh at this, but this is my favourite perfume ever. This is my third bottle. I know it’s not the height of sophistication, and a lot of people get quite snobby about celebrity perfumes but this smells so good and I always get complimented on it. It’s a really sweet smell, and lasts really well too.
And that’s my ride or die products, don’t forget to head over to Abbie’s blog and check out hers! What products can you not do without?
For the first time in what feels like forever, I have a beauty product review for you. Today I’m reviewing the L’Oreal Pure Clay Detox Mask. I’ve seen some pretty good reviews on this, and spotted it in Boots the other day on offer for £5 so I thought I’d give it a try.
So this product claims to be “Enriched with Black Charcoal which acts like a magnet to draw out impurities. The creamy texture of this deep cleansing face mask detoxifies the skin’s surface and works deep into the pores, leaving the skin looking clarified and beautified.”
I’m really impressed with this! I normally wouldn’t review skin care having only used it twice as sometimes it can take a while to see results, but with this I saw results instantly. It was nothing dramatic, but I could see where the mask was lifting toxins out of my pores, and my skin looked and felt a lot healthier. The only downside to this was my skin felt a little dry and tight after use (I have quite dry skin anyway), but as soon as I put on my usual moisturisers it felt fine.
For £5 this is really worth a try, I normally go for Lush facemasks, but as most of them are fresh I tend to keep them in the fridge then forget that they are there. So this is a great alternative as it doesn’t have a use by date.
I think I’ll keep on using this twice a week, and keep you posted on how it goes, but for the moment I’m loving it.
Let me know if you’ve tried this or any of the other L’Oréal Pure Clay Masks.
I haven’t really done a beauty post in ages (because I’ve not bought anything), however I have been screenshotting random beauty products, so I’ve decided to put together a beauty wish list.
I’ve seen a lot of Youtubers using these fan brushes for highlight and I really want to try it myself. I think I’m going to pick this one by Zoeva up as their brushes are such good quality, for a good price.
I’ve seen some good reviews on this, and I really want to try it! I normally use face masks from Lush, which are lovely, but I always forget I have them in the fridge and forget to use them.
I got my hair done recently and my hairdresser used this brand and it’s so good! My hair felt really healthy and looked really shiny. I’ll definitely be buying this.
My friend works at Bare Minerals, and she’s tried these and told me these are amazing. I’m looking for some new skin care, so I think I’ll pick up these at some point.
I love sleek products, especially their liquid lipsticks (Check out my post here) I’m not sure what colour I’d like to get in this, probably a rose/ nude shade. I’ve watched a couple of video’s on the Urban Decay Skin Complexion Perfection and its looks so good. I think this would be a good product for every day wear.
How beautiful are these colours? I have one of Tanya Burr’s palettes, and for the price it’s such good quality. For £6 each I think I’ll purchase both of these.
Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products, and what’s on your wish list this month?
Hi guys, I thought I’d try a haul video! These are all the bits I bought from Superdrug when I went on a bit of a spree. Apologies for the rubbish editing in this, I had to chop a few bits to keep it short
