My favourite time of the week. Book Review Sunday!
This week I’m reviewing “Between You And Me” by Lisa Hall.
“They say every marriage has its secrets. But no one sees what happens behind closed doors. And sometimes those doors should never be opened…Sal and Charlie are married. They love each other. But they aren’t happy. Sal cannot leave, no matter what Charlie does – no matter how much it hurts.” (Blurb taken from Amazon)
The core topic of this book is domestic abuse, physical and emotional. The book is written from the point of view of both characters, so the reader gets to see both of their emotions and thoughts, which was interesting. You see the paranoia and regret of the abuser, and the hurt and shame of the victim. The book is pretty raw and emotional. What I loved the most about this book though was the twist at the end, and without spoiling the ending for you, this book really does challenge the stigma and sterotypes people have about domestic abuse, and who is the victim and who is the abuser.
I really recommend this book! And if you do read it, let me know what you thought, and if you do want to discuss the plot, just make sure you leave a spoilers notice in the comments 🙂
